Barbara Urban, MD graduated from Medical College of Pennsylvania and after a medical residency earned board certification in family medicine and served 11years in the United States Air Force. In Maryland, she has practiced in the local community for over 30 years in several healthcare roles. Her interest in medical acupuncture grew in response to the growing clinical challenges and complexities of modern healthcare and the desire to care for individuals under a more whole person model (body, mind, and spirit).

Dr Urban was certified in medical acupuncture via Harvard Medical School Structural Acupuncture for physicians in 2009 and has enjoyed active medical acupuncture practice for over 15 years. She continues lifelong practice enrichment with the American Board of Family Medicine and renowned physician acupuncturists through Harvard Alumni program, American Academy of Medical Acupuncture, Memorial Sloan Kettering Oncology Acupuncture as well as numerous national and international expert groups. Her medical acupuncture focus blends Western medical foundation and Eastern traditions and runs in parallel but does not replace regular care. Tailored to the individual, it can reduce medication overuse and provide natural alternatives to better sustain a path of healing and wellness.

Dr Urban currently focuses on medical acupuncture and encourages teaming up with local health providers to complement and individualize care needs.
